Designers and publications
M.F.Agha was one of the first art directors. Agha adapted the stylistic tenets of European modernism to a U.S. title and its market. Willy Fleckhaus German designer willy is noted for his work on just two publications. This news magazine experimented and played with the illustration in much the same way that Twen had once done with photography, and retained the simple formalism of the earlier houses such as Suhrkamp. Twen launched in 1959 as a provocative youth title that combined erotic photography with thoughtful, intelligent articles.

Consistency without monotony one of the editorial designers most challenging and enjoyable tasks is creating a distinct, individual product or issue that is obviously part of a strong brand. Redesigning when and why? Designers may tweak elements of a layout to update a publication and keep it feel contemporary and relevant but eventually, even the best designed long-running publication may become outdated and stale.

Formatting the shape and size of a page. most common format A4 is dictated by the width of paper rolls and the size of the drum on the offset web presses commonly used to produce mass-circulation magazines. Choosing and using type should create an enjoyable, accessible, and appropriate experience for its reader, and a larger part of this is determined by the use of typography. The type used in newspapers while typography underpins the design of all editorial matter, its use in newspapers differs from that in magazines.

Hair magazine first spread, TOC, cover page
The TOC and cover page were very good the class had no changes. The spread needed some improvements like, change the color of the title and quote but it kinda got lost. also on the second page of the spread move the quote to a place better to read.
TOC
I choose the TOC that has the hair across the spread. Everyone else really likes this TOC too. They did have some improvements to add to it like, change the color of the numbers so I changed them to yellow, put in the word “content” so I moved bold to the top and changed the color to pink and added content to the place where bold was and had it in white.

proposal for project 2
I am doing a Hair Style magazine. With the cover being a girl with colored hair very big compared to the text size. This magazine is going to be featuring girls with colored hair or colored extensions. Everything is going to be very bright and on plane matt paper. All the photos are going to be super-sized almost off the page. Going to be playful with the text and make it either shape lines or flowy lettering. This is going to be a magazine that you would buy at a stand but I’m going to make the front paper a little bit cleaner with least text. Still making the cover page pop so people will want to read.
